Earth Day Event "Solar Powered Whoop House of Music"

As we approach Earth Day, Manistique Community Treehouse Center (MCTC) is excited to announce our partnership with the Charles H. Wright Museum and artist Ash Arder for an event featuring her "Whoop House" solar-powered sound structure . The structure is designed to record and play back the instruments and voices of community members.

Our partnership with Charles H. Wright and Ash Arder began in 2018 with the Shine A Light project. That is now the outdoor movie theater/emergency power station at the Creative Empowerment Garden. The community can plug up their phones and medical emergency devices in case the power goes out.

Charles H. Wright and Ash Arder both knew MCTC's mission for solar power in our community, and they support us with the installation of the Outdoor Movie Theater/Emergency Power Station. The MCTC Solar Power Community Installation by Charles H Wright Museum is the first by the Museum of a solar power structure in the community and we are grateful in the support of our mission in the community.

We invite you to join us on Earth Day, April 30th, starting at 4 pm. The agenda for the event is as follows:

4:00 pm: Welcome by Tammy Black

4:30 pm: Bee and Pollution presentation by Detroit Hives

5:00 pm: Solar projects/flood app/solar job training by Harold Wilcox

5:30 pm: Emergency power station presentation by Mose Primus

6:00 pm: Rooftop solar installations by Marva Stewart

6:30 pm: Video package plays

8:00 pm: Event ends

We look forward to celebrating Earth Day with you and showcasing the benefits of solar power in our community in Artist form.

Best regards,

MCTC

Starts in May our Yoga Instructor -Tee of Good Vibz Yoga & Well-Being

Standing, Chair , Wheelchair this class is for all.(please bring your chair)

Benefits of Chair Yoga:

Improved Strength. Using your muscles to complete yoga poses builds strength

Improved Proprioception

Reduced Stress

Reduced Pain

Improved Pain Management Skills

Better Sleep

More benefits: Focusing on your movement, your breathing, and how your body is reacting to the exercise creates a kind of moving meditation that promotes relaxation, reduces stress, and improves mental clarity. Like other forms of exercise, seated yoga may also help improve mood, your confidence and relieve anxiety and depression.

Who can benefit from chair yoga:

Chair yoga is an ideal exercise for those suffering from conditions, such as chronic pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, osteoporosis, and multiple sclerosis. It may also benefit people over a certain age who have trouble moving through the up and down motions of traditional yoga. Chair yoga allows them to stay stabilized.

Let's create a space where our minds are free and clear from stresses. Practice starts from the inside out.- NAMASTE

Reiki Sessions (March-May 2022)

Feedom Freedom Growers is excited to collaborate with Detroit wellness practitioner Adrienne Ayers of Healinthewaters services, to bring a healing justice centered & education initiative to Detroit. We will be providing free and accessible in-person reiki sessions and free-low cost classes for all of Detroit starting March 5th 2022 until the month of May. Reiki Sessions will be held on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 11AM-4PM at the Feedom Freedom Kulture HUB located at 291 Manistique St. 48215 .

All sessions will be 30 minutes. Our affirmation is that this initiative will create and strengthen community through opportunities for individuals who are new to energy healing & reiki & those who want to continue learning about it, to partake in in-person sessions to familiarize themselves with the experience. We will also be providing lost cost-free Reiki level 1 & 2 classes for those who are interested in furthering their journey as a practitioner.

It is our hope to cultivate an atmosphere where those who are drawn to reiki learn how to engage in the practice for themselves and eventually others. In order for majority African Detroit to step into an anti capitalist, liberated, and revolutionary future, we believe opportunities to deepen our relationship with self sufficiency and be supported in practices of wellness and self care are a necessity.
